Acronyms and Technical Terms

• I: Identity matrix. A matrix that has 1's on the main diagonal and 0's elsewhere.
• OLS: Ordinary Least Squares. This is the basic line fitting that everyone is introduced to and has done.

Symbols

• \(\partial\): Del or partial derivative symbol.
• \(\nabla\): Nabla. This is used for the gradient. When followed by a dot, it symbolizes the divergence. When followed by an X, it symbolizes the curl.
• \(\nabla^2\) Laplacian: Sum of the non-mixed second partial derivatives. Output is a scalar
